What Is A Doodle Dog?

A Doodle is a cross between a Poodle and another dog breed creating a doodle dog mix. With careful breeding, Doodles combine the best traits and characteristics of each parent breed.

Doodle dogs have a reputation for being low shedding, laid-back, good natured, smart, and friendly family dogs. Creating a designer dog can often help mitigate potentially harmful health defects that may happen commonly in purebred dogs.

According to Oodle Life, although Doodles are extremely popular designer dogs, Strictly speaking Goldendoodles are NOT AKC, and cannot be registered. Goldendoodles don’t show up on the AKC list of purebred dogs, but you can register them with the AKC Canine Partner program. This program will put your mixed-breed dog’s background on the record. It also allows them to participate in AKC events.  but they aren’t recognized as a breed by the American Kennel Club (AKC).

Are Doodle Dogs Hypoallergenic?

According to the AKC no dog is 100% hypoallergenic but the doodles are bred to limit allergies in hypersensitive people. Doodles are generally considered hypoallergenic as many of them don’t shed much and dander, which is attached to pet hair, is what causes most pet allergies in humans.  The low-shedding coat of a Doodle is one that produces less dander.

Depending on the genealogy of your doodle, some doodle dog mixes will be more hypoallergenic than others. However, it does depend upon how much Poodle content they have. Doodles usually have a very few or no allergy-producing substances known as allergens.

While no dog is 100% hypoallergenic, the doodles are among the most allergy friendly dogs out there. This means that it does not cause allergic reactions to people. So, they are the perfect dogs for families whose occupants are allergic to dogs.
